"Sexual immorality is too rampant in St. Vincent and the Grenadines"

"Sexual immorality is too rampant in St. Vincent and the Grenadines"

What is sexual Immorality?

Biblically speaking, sexual immorality is any sexual activity that takes place outside of marriage. This includes adultery(infidelity) and fornication (premarital or extramarital sex). The holy Scriptures teaches that both are off-limits for Christians ( I Corinthians 6:9; Acts 15:29; Hebrews 13:4). According to Bible Dictionary, it is a general term for all unlawful sexual intercourse including: adultery, prostitution, sexual relations between unmarried individuals, homosexuality, and bestiality.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (S.V.G), is a society that is based heavily on christian principles and beliefs and over the past years, from my observations, I have concluded that sexual immorality has been on the increase and it is too rampant in S.V.G. According to research information posted on Nation master (2018) St. Vincent and the Grenadines ranks 17 of 57 countries in the world in with the highest incidents of rape. This I say is alarming and reiterates the view that Sexual immorality is too rampant in S.V.G and it affects the entire country.

What are the effects of sexual immorality?

From personal observations, one may argue that marriage is no longer a priority for young people and as a result there are high rates of single parent families, teenage pregnancies, fornication and even sexually transmitted diseases. In fact, according to News784, there has been 1547 HIV cases recorded in little S.V.G. This again goes to show that sexual immorality is too rampant in S.V.G.

The Bible in I Thessalonians 4:3-5 tells us that it is God's will is that we should "avoid sexual immorality" and that each of us should learn to control his or her own body "in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen who do not know God." If the people of S.V.G. are genuine Christians, they would wake up and realize that sexual immorality really is too rampant in the small island state and start doing something about it.

How then can we fight against this issue?
